Why Winterizing Matters
Water left in your irrigation lines freezes and expands during the winter. That can crack pipes, valves, backflow parts and sprinkler heads, and the damage often isn't found until spring, when the system is turned back on. Winterizing removes that water before it has a chance to freeze.
When to Winterize in New Jersey
Most systems in Ocean, Monmouth and the surrounding counties should be winterized from mid-October through November, before the first hard freeze. Fall schedules fill up quickly, so it's best to book early.
We take calls 7 days a week, 8am to 8pm, and respond to service requests within 24 to 48 hours.
What a Winterization Includes
- Shutting off the water supply to the irrigation system
- Blowing out each zone with compressed air to clear the lines
- Protecting exposed parts that are vulnerable to freezing
- Setting your controller for the off-season
Spring Start-Ups
In central New Jersey, most start-ups happen in April or May, once the risk of a hard overnight freeze has passed. We turn the water back on, run every zone, check for leaks and winter damage, and adjust or replace heads so your lawn and beds are covered for the season. If we find a problem, we'll explain it and give you a price before making any repair.
